GLASGOW CITY moved five points clear at the top of the Scottish Women's Premier League after comprehensively defeating second placed Hibernian 4-0 at Albyn Park in Broxburn.

The visitors got off to the perfect start after Lauren McMurchie fired past Jenna Fife in Hibs nets after less than a minute on the clock.

Julie Fleeting made it 2-0 with a neat finish on 24 minutes after a Fiona Brown cross.

A good save from Fife denied Erin Cuthbert early in the second half, but City were not to be denied a third and it was a goal to savour as Fleeting headed home a neat cross from Hayley Lauder to get her second of the match.

It was a disciplined and ruthless performance from City and they rubbed salt into the wounds of the hosts with a terrific team goal in added time. Centre half Lauren McMurchie pirouetted her way out of defence to Lauder, who cleverly played in Brown and she expertly lobbed Fife to make the final score Hibernian 0-4 Glasgow City.

Although the two sides will meet again before the end of the season, today's result means that Hibernian now need other teams to do them a favour and take points of a Glasgow City side aiming for a Scottish record ten titles in a row.

Commenting on the match, City boss Head Coach, Scott Booth said, "Despite one or two fantastic individual displays today we feel the team performance won us the game. The girls should be proud of themselves. They were totally professional from kick off to final whistle."

Glasgow City are back in SWPL action next Sunday as they welcome Rangers to the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie for a 1pm kick off.
