Albion Rovers talisman Alan Trouten has been named the League One Player of the Month for December.

The midfielder was in imperious form as he hit five goals in just four games to beat the likes of Greig Spence and Stranraer goalkeeper Cameron Belford to the award.

The former Brechin City and Queen's Park player has enjoyed one of his most prolific seasons in front of goal, scoring 23 times in just 22 matches for the Wee Rovers.

In November, he was named in the Betfred Cup team of the tournament after finding the back of the net seven times, including a hattrick against Premiership side Hamilton.

Trouten's stunning form this season has surprised many, as the talented player failed to hit double figures in the previous two campaigns.

However, he did light up Glebe Park in his three seasons with the east coast side, scoring 52 goals in just over 100 games.
