SCOTT McDonald has been confirmed as the latest player to be heading out of Dundee United.

The Tannadice club announced on Monday that eight first-team members were departing following the club's failure to win promotion to the Premiership.

Striker McDonald was added to the list on Tuesday along with goalkeeping coach Stuart Garden, who joined the club in 2015. 

The former Australia internaionalist finished the season as United's top scorer, finding the net 15 times in the CHanmpionship.

However, the Tangerines' hopes of returning to the top-flight were dashed by a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Livingston in the Premiership play-off semi-final last week.
