DUNDEE United have raided Championship rivals Ross County and Dunfermline to snap up Craig Curran and Fraser Aird.

Curran, 28, has penned a three-year deal with the Tannadice outfit after snubbing suitors in the Premiership.

The Liverpudlian marksman scored 23 goals in three campaigns in the Highlands, but departed following County’s relegation from the top flight last season.

Curran, who started his career at Tranmere, has also turned out for Carlisle, Morecambe, Rochdale, Chester, Limerick and Nuneaton during a journeyman career.

United boss Csaba Laszlo said: “Craig [Curran] had offers from Premiership clubs so I am delighted he has chosen to come to Tannadice.

“He is an experienced forward who I believe will score goals for us.

“I am happy with how the squad is coming together. A lot of work is being done and the fans are starting to see the fruits of our labour.”

Canada internationalist Aird has signed a two-year contract with United after opting to leave the Pars.

The 23-year-old, who made more than 100 appearances for Rangers after moving to Glasgow as a youngster, scored four goals in 27 outings for Dunfermline last season as the Fifers secured a play-off place.

Aird, capped eight times for his country, has also enjoyed loan stints with Falkirk and Vancouver Whitecaps.

Laszlo added: “I am really happy to have signed Fraser [Aird]. The player had other options but was determined to join us.

“He is a player who can play either right-wing or right-wing back and adds to our attacking options. He is a good age of 23 but has plenty of experience.”

Meanwhile, United have appointed former Tannadice favourite Craig Easton as their new reserve team manager.

The 39-year-old, who turned out 259 times for the Tangerines between 1996 and 2004, arrives after resigning his post as development squad boss at Raith Rovers.

Easton, who also turned out for Livingston, Leyton Orient, Swindon, Southend, Dunfermline and Torquay during his playing career, guided the Kirkcaldy kids to successive Development League East titles following his arrival in the summer of 2016.

He said: “It’s been a really difficult decision to leave Raith Rovers, where I’ve had two of my most enjoyable years in football. However, the opportunity to come back to the place where it all began for me and to take on a new challenge at an exciting time for everyone involved, was one I couldn’t turn down.

"Whenever I come back to Tannadice, it feels like home and I can’t wait to give something back to the youth system that played a major part in my career and started my professional football journey.”
