AMBITIOUS Lowland League club Kelty Hearts today named former Rangers and Scotland captain Barry Ferguson as their new manager.

Ferguson, who has previously managed at Blackpool and Clyde, will be assisted by his former Ibrox team made Bob Malcolm at New Central Park.

The 40-year-old will take charge of the Fife club after their William Hill Scottish Cup second round match against Peterhead at Balmoor on Saturday.

Kelty Hearts were a junior side until 2017 when they joined the seniors and moved into the East of Scotland Division.

They won promotion to the Lowland League last season and currently sit above East Kilbride, who have a game in hand, on goal difference.

The winners of the division at the end of the season will enter the Scottish League Two play-offs.
