RB LEIPZIG'S in-form hitman Timo Werner has warned Celtic he's coming for them at the double after continuing his remarkable scoring record this season.
The Bundesliga high-fliers will face Celtic on Thursday in the fourth round of games in the Europa League Group Stages.
Germany international striker Werner has played 13 games for RB Leipzig and his country this season and has scored in just four of them.
But every time the 22-year-old has scored, he's bagged a double – including a brace in his last two games for Leipzig against Hoffenheim in the German Cup and in the 3-0 win against Hertha Berlin on Saturday.
And he admits he can't wait to face the Hoops at Parkhead.
He said: "I don't know why I keep scoring two goals at a time – I wish it was a hat-trick or maybe even four goals.
"We played great against Hertha and we're scoring goals.
"But you have to credit our defence too because that's five games in a row without conceding a goal.
"I like to be critical of myself. Last year I had 13 goals at this stage of the season and this year I have only eight so I need to improve.
"We are in good shape for the Celtic match and we approach the match in Glasgow with a lot of confidence."
And RB Leipzig boss Ralf Rangnick can't wait to face the Scottish champions again.
He said: "When you see how well we performed, it makes you desperate for the next game so we want to play Celtic now!
"I am genuinely excited about this team. We go into every game thinking we will score goals and the defence have been great recently and have tightened up."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
