Bruce Mouat’s newly installed European curling champions have re-set their sights on global success after surpassing their own expectations just a year after putting their team together.

In their first appearance at the European Championships 24-year-old Mouat and his colleagues Grant Hardie (26), Bobby Lammie (21) and Hammy McMillan (26) shocked Sweden’s Team Edin in the final in Tallinn at the weekend, out-playing the Swedes in the final to claim a 9-5 victory and end their four year reign as title holders.

“We put this team together last year and felt we could go far, but we’ve exceeded our expectations at this point,” said Mouat.

“It’s nice to have a week to relax before we head to Omaha for the first World Cup event to be held in America and we really want to prove ourselves on the world stage, not just in Europe.”
