JORDAN HOUSTON is thankful for the words of advice from Rangers defenders Lee Wallace and Gareth McAuley as he bids to make his mark at Ibrox.

The 18-year-old has spent time with Steven Gerrard’s first team squad this term as the Light Blues boss keeps a closer eye on some of his up-and-coming stars.

But it was the chance to play alongside McAuley for the Gers second string that was a real learning curve for Houston earlier this season.

The full-back has also taken on board the messages from former Ibrox skipper Wallace and is pleased with the progress he is making for his boyhood heroes.

Houston told SportTimes: “I have known Lee a lot longer than I have known Gareth having been fortunate enough to be involved with the first team previously.

“Lee has given me great advice on how to help different aspects of my game and has taken me under his wing when I have been with the first team and helped me get involved.

“Gareth was with the 20s when he was returning to fitness and he has been great and given me some really good advice. I really appreciate that from both of them.

“Gareth has had an incredible career so it was great for me to be able to play alongside him. I was delighted to get that chance and he really helped me and all the young lads through the game.”
