MARK ALLEN reckons boss Steven Gerrard is delivering in the manner he always knew he would in his first season at Ibrox.
The Liverpool legend made the move to Glasgow in the summer as he signed a four-year deal with Rangers to succeed Graeme Murty in the dugout.
Gerrard led his side into the group stages of the Europa League as they progressed through four qualifying rounds before narrowly missing out on a place in the knockout stages.
But it is the Old Firm win over Celtic at Ibrox last month that has really delighted the Light Blue legions as Rangers hauled themselves into title contention in the Premiership.
Director of Football Allen was instrumental in bringing Gerrard to Ibrox and is confident the 38-year-old will continue to go from strength to strength this season.
Allen said: “I like winning any game, it is as simple as that. There is no better feeling.
“I thought the lads worked exceptionally hard in that game and, without trying to be controversial in any way, I thought we thoroughly deserved it.
“I have gone on record as saying that I have zero doubts about the manager. It was an easy recommendation for me.
“He is a leader, a winner and he has got in locker that he has had adversity and dealt with it. when you deal with good and bad, it experiences you and puts you in a good place.
“He has been absolutely fantastic and we are all delighted. It is a good operation. We are a group that are very close, we are all on the same page and all want the same thing.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
