LITTLE Miss Moffat will always be able to look back and savour how her father Michael perfectly celebrated her arrival into this world.

Mila was born at 8am yesterday with dad beside his wife Megan all night.

Once he confirmed everything was good, he raced off to join the Ayr squad for the clash at Alloa and duly scored twice and set up the other goal for Lawrence Shankland by winning a penalty.

Ayr manager Ian McCall said: “I phoned Michael this morning and he said he was fine.

“I was going to take him off with 20 minutes to go but he said he was okay.

“I thought he was excellent. He got a double and also got the penalty for Lawrence.

“He actually missed a good chance before that when he was one on one with the keeper and that’s been our story in recent weeks.

“But he scored a great goal and then got another one so it was a good day."

Moffat’s magical day began in 29 minutes he curled a brilliant left-foot shot into the top left corner after taking a pass from Declan McDaid.

Alloa levelled barely a minute later when Alan Trouten produced a cool finish from Iain Flannigan’s cutback.

Then six minutes into the second half Moffat was barged over by Neil Parry and Shankland expertly converted the penalty.

He should have had a second spot-kick in 85 minutes when Andy Graham tripped him but it wasn’t given.

But two minutes later Shankland capitalised on calamitous Alloa defending to set up Nicky Cadden whose shot was blocked and Moffat slammed home the rebound.

Wasps boss Jim Goodwin reckons his side might have taken a point but knows Falkirk and Partick Thistle are gaining on them.

He said: “We’re disappointed with the result. It flatters Ayr but it’s that old cliché - goals change games.

“The penalty was a sore one because we should have dealt with the situation better.

“But we kept trying to get back into the game and their keeper tipped one onto the bar so there are fine margins.

“The third goal is amateurish. We tried to play our way out of trouble when we should have kicked the ball out the park.

“Both Falkirk and Partick have signed about 20 players between them so they’ve had the cheque books out, but we play them in the next couple of weeks.”
