RANGERS striker Alfredo Morelos has said he "wakes up every day thinking of the Copa América".
The firebrand has signalled he is desperate to work his way in to the plans of Colombia manager Carlos Queiroz for this summer's tournament.
And he has the backing of plenty of home pundits, desperate to add to the national side's attacking force.
According to Colombian reports, the player himself said: "I know that Carlos Queiroz is a good trainer and there is a process under way for the Copa América.
"I have to do everything to get a possible call-up to the national squad. I wake up every day thinking about the competition."
Colombia is one of 12 sides to take part in the Copa this June. It has only ever won the tournament once.
Commentator David Llamas told sports website Vavel that Morelos has shined in Scotland and that his goal-scoring record, albeit "not in one of European great leagues", should attract the attention of Queiroz
Morelos, meanwhile, also praised his club boss, Steven Gerrard. "We all know what a legend he is, I have a lot to learn from him. It is really exciting to be with him, he's a great coach and I am very happy."
Morelos, who previously played for HJK Helsinki, also said he was finding the Scottish game easier than the Finnish one. "The truth is I found it hard to adapt in Finland because there is so much snow," he said, according to the Colombian edition of Spain's sports paper Marca. "In Scotland everything has been more comfortable. The Scots are really passionate; they like football."
