MARK ALLEN has been a busy man at Rangers. Since Steven Gerrard was appointed as manager last summer, the entire squad at Ibrox has been reshaped by the former Liverpool captain.

With so many comings and goings, it can be a little difficult keeping track of who’s done well and who has flopped. We’ve went through each of Gerrard’s signings and rated their impact so far this season. We’ve excluded players recruited in January, as it still feels a little early to be definitively judging them.

Connor Goldson - 7
The former Brighton man is Gerrard’s most expensive signing to date and has established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet at Ibrox. The centre back’s distribution has let him down at points of the season, but the 26-year-old’s defensive work has generally been good and he has settled into life in Glasgow fairly quickly.

Borna Barisic - 5
The Croatian left back looked a very promising prospect when he joined last summer and early performances in Europe and domestically, particularly against Motherwell, suggested he would become a key player under Gerrard. Injury disrupted his season and since Barisic has returned, he’s failed to hit the heights of earlier in the campaign. Not in good from at the moment, but if he can recapture his early season form then he could still have a big future at Ibrox.

The Herald:

Nikola Katic - 5
Another Croatian, Katic joined from Spartak Moscow and was given a decent run in the team earlier in the season. Dominant and physically imposing in the air, Katic has the capacity to bully opposition forwards but still looks a little uncomfortable with the ball at his feet. It’s still too soon to write him off, but Gerrard is clearly hoping for more from the 22-year-old.

Eros Grezda - 3
Impressed against Rangers for Osijek in the Europa League qualifying rounds and similarly looked a threat for Albania against Scotland in the Nations League. However, Grezda has failed to replicate that form for Rangers and with a reported £2 million transfer fee attached to him, has been something of a disappointment for Gerrard. Promised much but has so far delivered very little.

Kyle Lafferty - 5
Signed from Hearts after a fantastic season in the capital last year, Lafferty was recruited primarily to serve as backup to Morelos or as a different option in attack should the game call for it. Has struggled to recapture the form he displayed for Craig Levein’s side last season but has usually been a presence in the Rangers attack.

The Herald:

Scott Arfield - 7
One of Rangers’ more high-profile summer additions, Arfield has generally performed well for Rangers but has struggled for consistency overall. The playmaker is Rangers’ third-top scorer in the league this season and has a few assists to his name, but the 30-year-old must produce more regularly for Gerrard’s team.

Jon Flanagan - 5
Gerrard was already familiar with Flanagan, given the time the pair spent at Liverpool together, and the 26-year-old was brought in to provide squad depth at full-back. Has been OK for the most part, but has occasionally looked out of his depth, particularly in the bigger games.

The Herald:

Allan McGregor - 9
Arguably Gerrard’s best acquisition, McGregor has been in fine form since returning to Scotland and has already cemented his status as one of the first names on the Rangers teamsheet. Seemed to pull off a miraculous save in every European game and has looked similarly dominant in the Premiership.

Umar Sadiq - 1
No surprises here. Sadiq joined on loan from Roma in the summer and had his spell in Glasgow cut short after a woeful display against Aberdeen in the League Cup semi-final. Simply not up to it.

Lassana Coulibaly - 5
Has filled in when required in central midfield but is another who failed to live up to his performances earlier in the season. Started well and looked like he would dominate matches but failed to maintain that level of performance. A decent squad player.

Ryan Kent - 9
Another who made the trip from Liverpool to Glasgow, Ryan Kent is enjoying a fine season at Ibrox at present. A tricky winger who is always keen to take on his opposite number, Kent has added goals to his game in recent weeks and is one of Rangers’ most effective creative players.

The Herald:

Joe Worrall - 6
Initially signed as cover for Katic, Worrall was soon preferred to the Croatian alongside Goldson in defence and has generally fared well. The odd howler has cost Rangers dearly - Worrall’s gaffe against Kilmarnock last month comes to mind - but has been a decent addition at the back. Has been useful this season but won’t be missed too much when he returns to Nottingham Forest.

Ovie Ejaria - 3
Featured a lot for Rangers in the first half of the season and showed the odd moment of quality, but generally underwhelmed during his stint at Ibrox. Had his loan cut short.

The Herald:

Gareth McAuley - 5
The veteran centre back was brought in after the transfer window had closed and was obviously signed as defensive cover. Has given a decent account of himself when he’s been asked to step in, but age is catching up with the 39-year-old and and pace he once possessed has all but evaporated. A decent stop-gap but clearly not a long-term solution.
