Bottom-placed St Mirren may have failed to hit the heights in the Ladbrokes Premiership this season, but striker Duckens Nazon was more than up for trying to land some success on Thursday.

The 6ft-plus Haitian international sprung to it in a bid to beat Cristiano Ronaldo’s mammoth leap of 2.6metres and earn the world record for the highest header in football.

Nazon’s attempt took place at Soar at intu Braehead, which showcases a number of world record bids.

But despite soaring into action for a good 40 minutes in his quest to out-jump Juventus attacker and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo, the forward, on loan from Belgian outfit Sint-Truiden, came up short.

Nazon, 24, admitted of trying to beat head boy Ronaldo’s record leap: “It was nearly impossible.”
