FORMER Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has played down reports he plans to recruit Alfredo Morelos for Leicester City, but has refused to dismiss speculation he plans to raid his old club for Lee Congerton.
The Foxes and Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a move for 28-goal Rangers striker Morelos, a player whom Rodgers knows well from his trophy-laden two-and-a-half year spell in Glasgow.
However, the new Leicester boss has appeared to rule out any move for the Colombian internationalist, saying, ‘I think someone is trying to wind someone up’.
The Northern Irishman, however, declined to dampen suggestions that he could be joined at the English Premier League club by Celtic head of recruitment Congerton.
On Morelos, Rodgers also said: “I never will comment on speculation of any player.

“My focus is on the group we have now, whether we can focus and get better as a group and then with the summer, we will look to strengthen and improve then.
“We understand where the team needs improving and we’ll look at the squad over the remainder of the season to see. Every year we want to improve and that’s something we’ll look at in the summer.”
Asked about Congerton, Rodgers added: “There’s nothing to add to that. There’s always speculation because I brought Lee in to Celtic.
“Our relationship goes back a long way and he’s very good at what he does. Eduardo [Macia] is in position here. Lee is working at Celtic.

“There’s lots of speculation around, whether it’s staff or players. It’s not something that’s a focus for now.”
Rodgers, meanwhile, spoke about his house being burgled in Glasgow in the early hours of Wednesday morning with his wife and stepdaughter inside.
Charlotte and six-year-old Lola locked themselves in the bathroom during the raid on the Bearsden property and Rodgers confirmed yesterday that some of his winner’s medals from his time at Celtic were stolen.
He said: “It’s obviously something that’s not nice for any family to go through. As I said it gave the girls a fright.
“The last ten days there’s been a lot of talk about my move to here. I don’t want to detract from an amazing time we had in Glasgow.
“The experiences we had there were amazing on and off the field. We don’t want to let the last ten days cloud any of that.
“We’ve dealt with it, we’ve had lots of support. They’re both safe.
“It’s an unfortunate incident, it’s sad for the girls - for someone to come in the night - it’s horrendous really, I just made sure they were secure up there.
“We are looking to buy a home here in Leicester. They will move down very soon. We will throw our lives into here and I look forward to that.”
Asked about the medals, Rodgers, who collected seven successive trophies at Celtic, added: "Yeah, so I’ll just have to try to get some more.”
