RANGERS PLAYER RATINGS

ALLAN MCGREGOR Could do very little about the goal Niall McGinn scored in just the third minute. The man who announced his retirement from international football yesterday was rarely tested thereafter. But he could have done better at the Connor McLennan goal in the second-half - 5

JAMES TAVERNIER Tested Aberdeen keeper Joe Lewis with a free-kick in the first half and then a shot in the second. But the Aberdeen keeper deal with both of his effort easily. Was far less influential than he as often been this season. His team mates needed him to lead by example - 4

CONNOR GOLDSON Played on after being cynically fouled by Aberdeen striker Stevie May after he had won the ball in the Rangers penalty box in the first-half. Could hardly be blamed for either goal. But he was hardly a commanding presence either - 5

JOE WORRALL The English centre half dealt with whatever the Aberdeen attack threw at Rangers. Was not at fault for either of the goals the away side netted. However, the Nottingham Forest loanee is another who often flatters to deceive - 5

BORNA BARISIC Preferred to Andy Halliday at left back. Went close with a powerfully-struck free-kick that Aberdeen keeper Joe Lewis did well to hold in the first half. Where was he, though, when McLennan stole in to slot home the second goal? - 4

RYAN JACK The former Aberdeen midfielder struck the post with a shot at a Ryan Kent corner in the 37th minute. But he was unable to take control of proceedings in the middle of the park the way his manager would have liked. Another who disappointed - 4

SCOTT ARFIELD Dealt with the conditions better than most players on the park. Played some decent passes forward to his team mates, not least to Daniel Candeias in the first-half. Was removed from the field in the second-half after Rangers fell two behind as Steven Gerrard threw on Jermain Defoe and Kyle Lafferty - 5

GLEN KAMARA Gifted the visitors a soft opening goal in just the third minute with a slack pass across his penalty area than was gratefully pounced upon by Niall McGinn. Was completely anonymous until being replaced by Steven Davis late on - 2

DANIEL CANDEIAS Booked for pretesting about a free-kick referee Kevin Clancy awarded Aberdeen in the first-half. He then overhit a cross with Ryan Kent and Arfield charging into the Aberdeen box in space inside him. The Portuguese winger could have few complaints when he was hooked in the second half - 4

RYAN KENT The on-loan Liverpool winger couldn’t be faulted for effort. He was direct and probed tirelessly for an opening. But he was unable to find a way past a resolute Aberdeen defence - 6

ALFREDO MORELOS Was subjected to a few full-blooded challenges from the Aberdeen defenders, Andrew Considine and Scott McKenna in particular. Booked for diving in the Aberdeen box after a challenge by Considine in the first-half. Forced a superb save from Lewis with five minutes remaining - 6

REPLACEMENTS

DEFOE Worked hard to get his team back into the game after coming on at 2-0 and showed his undoubted quality in flashes. But was unable to grab the goal Rangers needed - 4

LAFFERTY Tried hard to get his time a goal and a lifeline - 3

DAVIS Unable to make an impact. Booked for a foul on Shinnie - 2
