Neil Lennon has admitted to feeling anxious with a host of Celtic players away on international duty.

The Parkhead side have been without the services of Australian midfielder Tom Rogic since his return from the Asian Cup in January with a knee injury.

Rogic is due to step up training this week in order that he might have a part to play in the game against Rangers at the end of this month but Lennon is wary of losing anyone else to injury.

Celtic have had a particularly difficult few months with substantial numbers in the treatment room. Filip Benkovic and Callum McGregor made their return at the weekend while Olivier Ntcham is due to join Rogic in training.

However, Kristoffer Ajer had to leave the Dundee game with concussion and Dedryck Boyata missed out because of a knock.

“We have go a lot of players away so you are sitting on the end of the phone biting your nails," Lennon told Celtic TV.

Meanwhile, the interim Celtic manager will give some time off to those who have been perennial performers this season but who are not involved in international duty.

"The rest of the guys we can rest and work," said Lennon. "You have to remember these guys have played all the games in every competition domestically.

"They have played Champions League qualifiers, they have played Europa League, they are playing for their countries and they give everything every week. At times they need a rest and it is a good time for some of them who aren’t going away with their country to have a break.”
