SCOTT PITTMAN could be set to follow in his father’s footsteps as the United States track the Livingston ace.

The 26-year-old, who is reportedly a summer transfer target for Aberdeen, has been a revelation since joining the Lions from junior outfit Bo'ness in February 2015.

Pittman has gone on to make close to 200 appearances for Livi, helping them ascend from League 1 to the Premiership, and he could soon be afforded the opportunity to star on the international scene.

USA boss Gregg Berhalter has been charged with revitalising the national side following their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup and is thought to be aware of Pittman’s performances in the Scottish top-flight this term.

Pittman is eligible to represent the USA through his father, Steve, who was born in North Carolina and won four caps for his country.

Steve turned out for the likes of Fort Lauderdale Strikers, Tampa Bay Mutiny and Kansas City Wizards in his homeland as well as East Fife, Dundee and Partick Thistle in Scotland. He is currently on the coaching staff at Livingston.

Meanwhile, Livi can breathe a sigh of relief after an injury to in-form midfielder Steve Lawson proved to be less severe than first feared.

The 25-year-old has become an increasingly important player for Holt’s side following a slow start to his career in West Lothian, turning in impressive displays against St Johnstone and Aberdeen in recent weeks. However, he arrived for international duty with Togo this week complaining of pain in his thigh.

But subsequent scans have shown very minor damage and Lawson still hopes to feature in his country’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin on Sunday.
