Former Scotland striker Billy Dodds insists the atmosphere among the Tartan Army was ‘toxic’ as Alex McLeish’s side laboured to an unconvincing 2-0 victory over minnows San Marino on Sunday.
The one-time Rangers and Aberdeen marksman Dodds was part of the BBC commentary team and admits he was taken aback by the mood of the 3,000-strong travelling fans.
Following Thursday’s crushing 3-0 defeat in Kazakhstan, McLeish is already under pressure just two games into the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.

Supporters booed throughout the weekend’s game, chanted abuse at the Scottish FA and unfurled a banner that read ‘Ecksit’.
And Dodds admits it is patently obvious that Scotland fans are far from happy with McLeish.
He said: “It was a horrible atmosphere and I have not experienced that at international level before.
“I've had a bit of stick. We have all had disappointing results with Scotland, but it was toxic, it really was.
“I'm just glad we got the second goal because if it had stayed 1-0, I don't think they would have accepted it as well as they did.”
