FORMER Rangers and West Ham winger Dale Gordon believes David Moyes would the perfect candidate to for the Celtic manager's job.
Gordon feels Moyes, who played for the Parkhead club in the early1980s, can follow in the footsteps of Brendan Rodgers and resurrect his career at Celtic Park.

However, Gordon believes the Premiership champions-elect will face a far stiffer challenge from his old club next season because Steven Gerrard will better equipped as a manager and Rangers will be stronger as a result.
Gordon, who covers British football as a pundit in Dubai, said: “I think David Moyes would be a good fit for Celtic. There are question marks about Neil Lennon. Going back to your old club doesn’t always work. Of course, it was a no-brainer for him to take the temporary role but will it work long term?

“I would compare David’s situation to that of Brendan Rodgers. David of course started at Preston then made his reputation at Everton and that led to Manchester United, even if that didn’t work out for him.
“Brendan was similar – Watford, Swansea and then Liverpool where he ultimately just failed to take them to that next step.
“Rodgers needed to go somewhere where he could build his reputation up again and he has done that by winning trophies and setting records. That enabled him to get back to the Premier League.
“David Moyes is at that point where he probably needs to do the same.
“I thought he did a good job at West Ham last season and was unfortunate that he didn’t get the job on a permanent basis. His problem is that he is not a trendy manager – but you don’t become a bad manager overnight.
“I just think he needs this now – a chance to kick-start his career again. Celtic, of course, are a huge football club but he knows that as much as anyone. I think he would jump at it.”
Gordon, who played over 50 games for Rangers between 1991 and 1993, reckons whoever gets the Celtic job will have a real fight on their hands.
He believes Rangers have already shown they are close to matching their rivals and will be even stronger next season.
Gordon said: “Ranges got closer this year but some ropey results cost them. Next year they will get even closer.
“Steven will come back stronger as a manager and I’m sure the recruitment process is well down the line.”
