CAMERON HARPER will use his Hampden heartache as inspiration after suffering defeat in the Scottish Youth Cup final.

Celtic fought back from two goals down to pull level with Rangers on Thursday night and give themselves a chance of lifting the silverware.

But the goals from Harper and Paul Kennedy proved in vain as Nathan Young-Coombes won it for the Light Blues.

Harper had another effort chopped off late on but was proud of the performance that Stephen McManus’ side turned in at the National Stadium.

He said: “It was terrible from us to go 2-0 down after seven minutes. We showed great spirit to come back into the match and get it back all square.

“We took the foot off the gas a little bit when we should have tried to go and get more goals. Credit to Rangers they put up a good match and we were unlucky in the end.

“It was good to score at Hampden but I knew we had to get more goals. I thought I had scored an equaliser late on to make it 3-3 and on another night it might have been given.

“It was my first time playing at Hampden and hopefully I can go on in the future and play many more games here.”
