ABERDEEN manager Derek McInnes has been given a a one-match ban after being sent off during his side's Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic at Hampden last month.
McInnes reacted to chants from Celtic supporters labelling him as a 'sad Orange b*****d' and was sent to the stand by referee Craig Thomson.
The 47-year-old was bullish ahead of his hearing with the disciplinary panel at Hampden on Thursday, but he will now sit in the stand when Aberdeen take on Celtic once again on Saturday at Pittodrie. He also received a suspended one-match ban which will remain in place until the end of next season.
McInnes had previously cited similar incidents where managers had escaped punishment, saying: "I am actually looking forward to the hearing and hearing what has to be said. I have a few things I want to say myself. On the day, I was disappointed I reacted.
“There have been other instances when managers have reacted and there have not been sending-offs or hearings.”
Aberdeen players Dom Ball and Lewis Ferguson, as well as assistant manager Tony Docherty, were also sent off during an ill-tempered Scottish Cup semi-final, and the Aberdeen number two will face his own disciplinary hearing at Hampden on Friday.
