JAMES Forrest last night became the sixth Celtic player in a row to be voted PFA Scotland’s Player of the Year.

The 27-year-old winger pipped team-mate Callum McGregor and Rangers pair Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent at the annual dinner in Glasgow organised by the players’ union.

Forrest won his eighth championship medal at the weekend and has another superb season for both club and country scoring 17 goals for Celtic over 52 appearances.

But Forrest was not there to collect his trophy as the Celtic players, crowned champions for an eighth year in a row at Aberdeen on Saturday, were at a club break in Dublin.

Young Player of the Year was Ryan Kent of Rangers. The last time the Ibrox club won any PFA award was in 2010. Steve Clarke of Kilmarnock won Manager of the Year as voted by his peers.
