Neil Lennon has been offered the Celtic manager's role on a permanent basis.

After succesfully guiding Celtic to their eighth successive Premiership title and lifting the Scottish Cup with a 2-1 win over Hearts, the Celtic board have been suitably impressed with the Northern Irishman's work and have offered the 47-year-old a permanent contract.

Details of the deal have not yet been released, but are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Chief executive Peter Lawell said: "Neil stepped up to the plate when we needed him. Heā€™s a true Celtic man who knows the club and the city.

"Heā€™s a winner with a fantastic eye for a player. Iā€™m delighted to announce heā€™s been offered the job."

Speaking after watching his side win the Scottish Cup final, Lennon said: "Itā€™s a privilege. Itā€™s been my privilege to manage the club once but to do it a second time, I feel like Iā€™ve come full circle.

"It was always an objective. I left the club on good terms the last time and nothingā€™s changed.

"It has been a rollercoaster couple of months. Difficult, but I hope I bring a lot more success to the club going forward.

"The hard work has already begun. Thereā€™s going to be changes in personnel obviously, but I donā€™t want to change too much because itā€™s been a really good transition between myself and Brendan [Rodgers].

"Iā€™ve got to pay tribute to him and pay tribute to Ronny [Deila]. They have done fantastic things for the club as well."

More to follow.
