THERE are a number of exciting Scottish Premiership prospects that are worth getting excited about. With that in mind, we'll be revealing our top 10 players under 21 currently plying their trade in the top flight. In order to be considered, players have to be based in Scotland permanently and have to have a significant number of minutes under their belts this season. The likes of Karamoko Dembele at Celtic or Rangers' Dapo Mebude might go on to become stars, but it's still a little too early to say for sure. Without any further ado, here's our number 2...

Few Scottish football fans were familiar with Connor McLennan when the season got underway, but the 19-year-old winger has enjoyed a fantastic breakthrough campaign for Derek McInnes' side. Comfortable on either wing and with the occasional appearance leading the Aberdeen attack, McLennan has repaid his manager with no fewer than seven assists this season. Only Celtic's Callum McGregor (9) and Rangers captain James Tavernier (12) have set up more goals for their team-mates this season.

McLennan has proven to be an important creative player for Aberdeen this campaign and has one of the highest crosssing success rates in the Premiership, with 43% of his deliveries finding their intended target. Married to this technical ability is McLennan's quality at running with the ball, where the young winger is one of the standout players in the Scottish top flight.

Only Motherwell's Gboly Ariyibi attempts more dribbles than McLennan does in any given game and this ability to drive forward with the ball should serve the Aberdeen youngster well going forward. Four goals in all competitions this season - including a memorable strike against Rangers in the Scottish Cup - represents a decent return for a player so young, but McLennan will surely be looking to add more goals to his game next season. The future looks positively rosy for the 19-year-old and his career is certainly one worth watching closely.
