Gayle urges Aribo to join Rangers

Marcus Gayle, the former Staines Town boss who helped Joe Aribo seal his move to Charlton four years ago, has urged the 22-year-old midfielder to move to Ibrox amid interest from Rangers. "It is a big decision for him and I have been in communication with him," said Gayle. "He was asking about my time at Rangers and what it was like. I said it would be a great place to go and develop at 22-years-old."

Rangers' pursuit of Edmundson to end?

Rangers are on the verge of pulling out of negotiations to sign Oldham Atheltic defender George Edmundson after being put off by the asking price. The Scottish Sun are reporting that the Ibrox club's last offer was for around £600,000, while Oldham are holding out for a fee in excess of £1 million.

Naismith: Jagielka won't move to Scotland

Everton defender Phil Jagielka, who has been linked with a move to Celtic following the departure of Dedryck Boyata, is unlikely to arrive in Scotland, accoridng to his former team-mate Steven Naismith. "I would be surprised if he came up here," admitted Naismith. "He’s got more association with different clubs down south, like Sheffield United where he came through, and he has a family with kids who are going through school. So with all those thoughts to consider I’d be surprised if he comes to Scotland."

Rangers bid for Kalas

Rangers have made an offer for 26-year-old Chelsea centre-back Tomas Kalas but face competition from Bristol City for the defender's signature, according to the Scotsman. The Czech Republic centre-half last played for Chelsea in 2014 and is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

St Mirren chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick has insisted that the Paisley side are a "top-four club" and believes they should be regularly challenging for silverware. Fitzpatrick told the Scottish Sun: "This club is a top-four, at the worst, top-six club. Success is not staying in the league — it is being in Europe again."
