JORDAN JONES admits he has a point to prove after making the move from Kilmarnock to Rangers.

The winger agreed a pre-contract deal with Steven Gerrard’s side in January before completing the remainder of the campaign at Rugby Park and helping Killie finish third in the Premiership.

Jones will meet up with the majority of his new Light Blues’ team-mates for the first time on Monday as Gerrard and his staff step up their preparations for the big kick-off next term.

Jones said: “I feel full of confidence and I am really determined to come here and make my mark.

“I am not coming here just to wear the badge and say I am a Rangers player – I have come here to prove a point as to what I can bring to the team and bring the club some success.

“I think the squad is a lot stronger than it has been, and the way the gaffer has got the team playing is very good and very structured.

“It is a challenge, but it is a challenge I am really up for. I am determined to get myself in that starting XI and keep my place.

“It (playing at Ibrox) is something I have thought about for a really long time, and I think when the moment does come it will be surreal but I will be over the moon when it happens.”

Jones will be reunited with former Killie team-mate Greg Stewart at Ibrox after he put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal following his exit from Birmingham City, while Jake Hastie will arrive from Motherwell to add further competition for places in the Rangers attack.

Now Jones is determined to make a positive first impression on the Gers fans.

“I just want to try and get the fans on their feet – that is the way I play and I will hopefully try to add some more assists and goals to my game and hopefully bring the club some success,” he told RangersTV.

“I’m absolutely over the moon and it’s a dream come true to finally be here. I think I have waited long enough for this day to come and I couldn’t be happier now I am here.

“Every young boy used to watch him (Gerrard) play. He was a fantastic player and from what I have heard, he is a fantastic manager.

“The chats I have had with him have been really good and positive, and I can’t wait to get going with him.”
