STEVEN GERRARD remains fully committed to his job at Rangers after reports of an approach from Derby County were dismissed.

It was claimed on Tuesday that Gerrard had knocked back the chance to speak to Derby about succeeding Frank Lampard as manager if his former England team-mate moves to Chelsea this summer.

No talks have taken place between Gerrard and the Rams and the Liverpool legend would not consider a move away from Ibrox right now.

A Rangers spokesman said: "Let's get one or two things clear. Our manager has not been approached and he remains 100 per cent committed to the job that he has here."

Derby are bracing themselves for an official approach from Chelsea as the Blues board look to bring Lampard back to Stamford Bridge following Mauricio Sarri’s move to Juventus after just one season in England.

Lampard lead Derby to the play-off final in his first season in management but lost to Aston Villa at Wembley as they missed out on a place in the Premier League.

Gerrard has been linked with what could soon be a vacant position at Pride Park but the 39-year-old has no intention of leaving Rangers after just 12 months in Glasgow.

The 39-year-old lead his side into the group stages of the Europa League and to two Old Firm wins at Ibrox but Rangers ended the campaign empty-handed as Celtic made it eight-in-a-row in the Premiership.

The Light Blues returned to pre-season action at the Hummel Training Centre on Monday and Gerrard will step up his preparations for the new campaign with a trip to Portugal this weekend.
