JOHN TERRY has backed Scotland midfielder John McGinn to take the Premier League by storm and establish himself in England’s top flight.
McGinn enjoyed a superb campaign last time out as he inspired Aston Villa to promotion from the Championship under the guidance of boss Dean Smith and assistant manager Terry.
The 24-year-old has gone from strength to strength south of the border since rejecting a move to Celtic last summer and clinching a switch to Villa Park.
Celtic’s loss has proven to be Villa’s gain and McGinn will now look to make his mark alongside some of the best players in the game in the coming months.
That is a challenge that England and Chelsea legend Terry is confident McGinn can rise to as Villa prepare to return to the top flight this summer.
Terry said: “What a player he is by the way. He is a great lad.
“He gets that backside into people and rolls people! What a player he is and an absolute pleasure to work with. I missed him because I left and he signed, but then going in and working with him on a daily basis is great.
“He is an absolute gentleman, a real talent and I think he is going to take the Premier League by storm this year because people aren’t going to know what to expect. He is a real top talent, a great lad that is keen to get better and improve himself.

“I didn’t know too much about him before but I saw the speculation. Obviously Celtic have missed one there, for sure.
“There were a few clubs in for him but Steve Bruce managed to get it over the line and get him in at Villa, which is great for us.
“We are delighted to have him because he is an integral part of our squad now.”
