RYAN CHRISTIE has revealed that he and his team-mates are not holding any grudges over Kieran Tierney's decision to join Arsenal, Floriano Vanzo has hit out at Kilmarnock after a proposed deal fell through and Steven Gerrard has described Alfredo Morelos as 'unplayable'.
Christie: Tierney 'would be mad' to knock back Arsenal
Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has insisted that his team-mates are fully supportive of Kieran Tierney's decision to join Arsenal, report the Scottish Sun. Christie said: "In a few months, when everyone looks back on this, I’m sure there will be no ill-feeling towards Kieran. They will realise the opportunity that has been put in front of KT, and that he’d have been mad not to take it."
Gerrard hails 'unplayable' Morelos
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has described 23-year-old striker Alfredo Morelos as 'unplayable' when he's at his best. Gerrard said: "When Alfredo is on his A-game, he can be unplayable and help this club to be successful. That’s what he needs to realise from a personal point of view. His A-game, on a regular basis, brings this club success.”
Vanzo: Kilmarnock broke promises
Belgian midfielder Floriano Vanzo has accused Kilmarnock of not honouring a contract offer after rejecting a move to Rugby Park. Vanzo told the Scottish Sun: "Kilmarnock’s salary offer was nothing like the one they had proposed beforehand. I turned their offer down. It didn’t resemble the one they had spoken to me about in any respect."
Lennon backs 'legend' Tierney
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has insisted that Kieran Tierney has left Celtic Park as a legendary player. “I would imagine he [Tierney] will be remembered very fondly,” said Lennon. "Kieran can go with his head held high and as a Celtic legend. He has gone for a record fee, just like others in the past like Kenny, Charlie, and van Dijk - you have to put Kieran up there with them.”
McGregor not for sale, says Lennon
Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor, who was the subject of a late bid from Leicester City on Thursday, is not for sale, according to Lennon. He said: "There was an approach for Callum. Clubs from other countries might show interest in some of the players, but as far we are concerned our important players are not for sale. Callum certainly comes into that bracket."
Robinson believes Tierney move is a 'game-changer'
Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson reckons that Tierney's £25 million move to Arsenal could be a 'game-changer' for Scottish football. "I think the Scottish game is very much on the up, and I think we’ve got true value for one of the top players in the league," he said.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
