Steven Fletcher has admitted he's considering hanging up the boots for Scotland.

The Sheffield Wednesday striker has been a big player for previous national team managers including Gordon Strachan and Alex McLeish.

With new boss Steve Clarke in the Hampden hot seat now, however, Fletcher still has to make contact with him in a bid to determine whether or not he's in the manager's plans.

Without ruling anything out, the ex-Hibs attacker has hinted that he'd be content to look back on a definitive 33 caps and ten goals.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Fletcher said: "We've got a good campaign going. I need to sit down and see if he wants me to play.

"Then, obviously, realise if I can keep going away on international duty and then come back fit as well.

"I need to sit down and think about it.

Automatic Euro 2020 spot will be a tough ask for Clarke

"I need to look after myself, I am in my 30s, and am injury-free for the first time in a long time.

"I don’t really want to put that in jeopardy. It’s a hard decision."

Fletcher, 32, has played three times for the Owls this season, scoring once.
