The new-look Glasgow Cup will allow two first-team players to play for Celtic and Rangers' colt teams.

The tournament, which has been in existence since 1887, has been revamped ahead of the new campaign.

Scottish football's big two will compete through their colts - but Neil Lennon and Steven Gerrard will be permitted to allow two over-age players in the games as well as two trialists.

Partick Thistle, Queen's Park and Clyde make up the rest of the clubs involved.

Rather than a straight knockout competition, clubs will square-off against each other twice, home and away.

The final will be played in April 2020.

The tournament kicks-off this evening as Clyde take on Celtic colts at Broadwood.

Organisers, Glasgow FA, outline their objectives for the tournament as a way to "encourage the involvement of local schools and the development of youth football through a variety of other programmes and events."
