MOTHERWELL forward Craig Tanner has left Fir Park after turning down an offer of a contract extension.

The 24-year-old missed the entirety of last season through injury after picking up a serious injury in March 2018 that saw him sidelined for nearly 15 months.

Motherwell gave Tanner a short-term contract extension over the summer so that the forward could recover his fitness and offered the forward another deal, but Tanner has decided to leave Fir Park in search of a new club.

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson told the club's website: "We are disappointed Craig has chosen to leave, but we respect his decision.

“It’s been a long road back to fitness for him and he’d done brilliantly well to get back onto the pitch and playing football again.

“We were keen to continue that push for match sharpness. But Craig has decided he’d rather continue his career elsewhere and we wish him all the very best of luck.”
