THE senior Scotland side might not be giving fans much to cheer about these days, but the same cannot be said of Scot Gemmill's under-21s.

In Scotland's second qualifier for the 2021 under-21 Euros, Gemmil's side faced a daunting away trip to top seeds Croatia. To make matters worse, Chelsea's Billy Gilmour was ruled out before the fixture after picking up a muscle strain.

The home side took the lead just 10 minutes into the game through Sandro Kulenovic and looked set to seal all three points.

With 11 minutes left to play, Gemmill threw on Aberdeen winger Connor McLennan and Glenn Middleton, on loan at Hibernian from Rangers, and it proved to be a masterstroke. Within three minutes, the pair had combined to bring Scotland level.

The momentum was well and truly with Scotland from that point onwards and with 89 minutes on the clock, McLennan headed in Ross McCrorie's cross to give Scotland the lead and ensure they left Croatia with all three points.
