Rangers icon Ian Durrant reckons Ryan Kent is worth every penny of his £7million fee - and he'll be sold on for even more.

Durrant was delighted to see his former side snap up Kent from Liverpool earlier this summer.

Liverpool held out for the permanent move after Jurgen Klopp refused to allow the player to head back out on loan.

And Durrant insists Gers manager Steven Gerrard was a key factor in the move.

Kent, 22, became the Ibrox outfit's second most expensive player of all time after Tore Andre Flo - but Durrant has no issues with the price tag because the promising winger has all the potential to justify the cash spent.

Speaking on Football Daft with Ewen Cameron and Grado, Durrant was asked if Kent was worth the money.

He replied: "Of course he is.

"You're getting a young kid who's come from a great background at Liverpool, great upbringing who just wants to play football now.

"He's been part of Liverpool's squad in pre-season but he's wanting to come up and he's struck up a great relationship with Steven Gerrard who I think had him in the youths.

"He wants to play for Rangers, he had opportunities to go to Leeds, Brugge.

"His main aim was to go play for Rangers and Steven Gerrard who has a big pull to bring players in.

"Rangers and Celtic are now selling clubs and if there's an opportunity comes up players will be sold for top dollar."
