Ex-Rangers midfielder Alex Rae believes Brendan Rodgers is to thank for James Forrest finding a "different level" as a Celtic player.

Forrest has been in scintillating form this season already but has been the Hoops' top man for the past two years.

Seemingly on his way out of Parkhead under Ronny Deila, Rodgers came in and made the winger a focal point in his set-up.

This paid off in spades with Forrest going on to win a number of individual gongs - including Player of the Year - and helping his side towards an unprecedented treble Treble.

After Forrest scored another goal against Hamilton last weekend, former Rangers star Rae, 49, heaped praise on the winger for adapting his game to float in off the right-flank and not simply rely on getting to the byline to cross.

And he credited Rodgers as the man who helped improve the Scotland cap as a player.

"You have to give credit to Brendan Rodgers because he developed him," Rae told Ladbrokes Social club.

"He encouraged him.

"You look at Scott Sinclair over the last few years, coming in off the left-hand side.

"It's a feature of Celtic's play and it's taken James Forrest to a different level."
