Now the Daily Record claim Mark Warburton is lining up a January swoop for Hickey, 17, in a bid to entice the player into a move to the English Championship.

The Scottish full-back has burst onto the scene at Tynecastle after making his full debut against Celtic last season in the Scottish Cup final.

He has since gone on to play 14 times for Craig Levein's side.

He also scored the winner in the most recent Edinburgh derby at Easter Road in a 2-1 win for Hearts.
