CELTIC PLAYER RATINGS
FRASER FORSTER: Could have done little about the goal Melker Hallberg netted for Hibernian and was let down by his defence when Florian Kamberi scored a second for the Easter Road club. 6
JEREMIE FRIMPONG: Allowed Daryl Horgan to shoot at the Celtic goal in the eighth minute. But, that lapse aside, the 18-year-old impressed again. Certainly poses an attacking threat. 6
CHRISTOPHER JULLIEN: The French centre half needed to have his head bandaged after being elbowed in the fourth minute. But he acquitted himself well thereafter. 8
KRISTOFFER AJER: Headed a Horgan cross to safety in the first-half. Made a few of his trademark runs from deep as well. But he could have done better at Kamberi’s goal 6
BOLI BOLINGOLI: His propensity to produce costly defensive errors resurfaced. He teed up Hallberg for his goal with a rash and underhit passback into his own box. Didn’t reappear for the second-half. 4
SCOTT BROWN: The Celtic skipper was gifted a goal when Chris Maxwell fumbled a Mohamed Elyounoussi corner. Scored a second at the death to make it 5-2. 7
CALLUM MCGREGOR: Had the simplest of tasks to turn a pass from Odsonne Edouard into the net from a few yards out in the 21st minute. 7
JAMES FORREST: Created the opening goal in the 17th minute with an inch-perfect cross to Elyounoussi. Hit the post in the second-half before being replaced. 7
TOM ROGIC: Preferred to Ryan Christie in the playmaker role. He had, by his own standards, a quiet evening. 6
MOHAMED ELYOUNOUSSI: The Norway winger exhibited great composure to head home a Forrest cross. Was in the right position at the right time to bag the third. Denied a Hampden hat-trick by the post in the second-half. 8
ODSONNE EDOUARD: No goals, but two assists and another brilliant display. Has wonderful feet for such a big man. 8
Substitutes
JONNY HAYES The fans’ favourite replaced Bolingoli at left back and worked hard. 5
HATEM ELHAMED: Replaced James Forrest at 4-2. 4
RYAN CHRISTIE: Took over from Rogic with 11 minutes left. 3
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
