Former Manchester United boss David Moyes has ruled out taking up the either of the vacant managerial posts at Hearts or Hibernian.

The Easter Road side parted company with Paul Heckingbottom on Monday - less than a week after their city rivals announced the departure of Craig Levein.

However, Moyes, out of a job since leaving West Ham last year, has distanced himself from the dugout on both sides of the capital divide.

He told BBC Sportsound: "Ultimately it is football management and it happens."

"But neither job would be of any interest to me.

"I wouldn't say I wouldn't move back to Scotland. Scotland is my love and Glasgow is where I'm from. Hopefully someday I may well come back but at the moment it's not just now."

Moyes' fellow ex-Sunderland boss Jack Ross has been tipped as a potential candidate for both clubs, along with Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson.

Austin MacPhee took charge of Hearts' 3-0 defeat to Rangers in the Betfred Cup semi-final on Sunday and is expected to remain in the hotseat for the visit of St Mirren to Tynecastle on Saturday, with Ann Budge claiming she is in "no rush" to appoint a successor.

Meanwhile, Eddie May - who assumed temporary managerial duties for Hibs when Neil Lennon departed the club earlier this year - will take charge of the Leith side's trip to St Johnstone, assisted by coach Grant Murray and ex-Scotland international Steven Whittaker.
