How the Scotland players rated in their 3-1 win over Kazakhstan on Tuesday night.

DAVID MARSHALL 6 No chance with goal and very little else to do.

LIAM PALMER 7 Started the game well but careless pass straight to Schetkin allowed Kazakhs to open the scoring. Picked himself up to have a positive showing attacking down the right.

DECLAN GALLAGHER 7 Motherwell man looked comfortable on his second appearance. Dominant in the air and decent on the deck.

SCOTT MCKENNA 6 Stood way too far off Zainutdinov to allow him to smash home the opener, but settled down after the break and looked more assured.

GREG TAYLOR 7 Constant threat down the left linking with Forrest and set up late goal for McGinn.

CALLUM MCGREGOR 7 Buzzed around the midfield always making himself available for the ball and starting Scotland attacks.

RYAN JACK 7 Chiefly in to be midfield anchor, but was positive going forward and almost got equaliser. Good range of passing.

JAMES FORREST 7 Burst past two opponents to set up a chance for McGregor, then went close to putting Scotland ahead in second half.

JOHN MCGINN 7 Scotland’s goal machine got a bit of fortune with equaliser as his free-kick hit Islamkhan and rocketed into the net, then made it seven for the campaign at the death. Always a threat.

RYAN CHRISTIE 7 Picked up nice areas in behind Naismith and played some lovely passes to release Palmer down the right.

STEVEN NAISMITH 8 Usual nuisance and earned two free-kicks right on edge of the area, the second of which was dispatched by McGinn. Passed up some good chances, but rewarded for perseverance by bundling home Scotland’s second.
