Celtic captain Scott Brown reckons a fully fit Leigh Griffiths would be a massive boost to both Celtic and Scotland.
Griffiths has been out of action for the first-team at Parkhead this season since August 25 where he played a bit-part in a 3-1 win over Hearts.
Off-field struggles and injuries have kept the 29-year-old striker on the sidelines.
Luckily, for the Hoops at least, Odsonne Edouard has been firing on all cylinders.
But Brown, 34, believes it can only benefit both his club and country to have the Scotland cap back in contention.
"It would be a great boost for Scotland and for us, too," Brown said of Griffiths' return.
"We need Leigh back fit as a fiddle, working hard, scoring goals and doing what he does best.
"When he played for Scotland he was incredible, the way he played against England and scored those two free-kicks.
"It wasn't just about the free-kicks though, it was about controlling two centre-halves."
Griffiths played for Celtic's academy side earlier this week and bagged himself a double in a Lennoxtown bounce game.
Brown, though, says he was only doing what everyone knows he's capable of.
"If we can get Leigh Griffiths back to that fitness levels, we know what his left foot can do anyway, he'll put the ball in the back of the net.
"It's about making sure he's as fit as he possibly can be to get back into our team."
Brown was speaking ahead of An Evening with Broony at the SEC Armadillo.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
