They say you're only as good as your last game.
Alfredo Morelos, then, will desperately be wanting to get back out onto the pitch to change his fortunes.
The Rangers striker squandered a barrel load of opportunities against Celtic in Sunday's Betfred Cup final and failed to score in the fixture for the 11th time on the spin.
Gers fans were as understanding as they could be towards their favourite hitman, considering he'd cost them the game as much as rival goalkeeper Fraser Forster did.
Ibrox legend Gordon Smith, though, believes supporters will still be hurting from the loss.
Some might even be quietly blaming the Colombian for wasting his chances.
In Smith's mind, the worst thing a player can do is dwell on his mistakes.
Which is why this evening's crunch Europa League tie against Young Boys could be the perfect remedy for El Buffalo.
A terrific 13 goals in Europe this season has helped his side to the top of Group G. Another one without reply tonight and Gers are in the knockout rounds.

More importantly, though, a 14th goal would go a long way in helping supporters forget about Sunday.
"I think some fans will be unhappy, despite everything, because Sunday was the game they wanted to win," Smith said.
"It's a cup final against Celtic and he's thrown it away. Despite what he's done in other games, some fans might hold it against him.
"So to a certain degree he'll have to redeem himself.
"The game against Young Boys is a good opportunity to show he's over it and can handle it.
"That's what you have to do at that level, have a strong confidence and a good psychology.
"If he does that against Young Boys the fans will very much appreciate that and it'll be very good for him as well."
Smith saw uncertainty in Morelos' game against Celtic and reckons the striker would have been feeling the pressure of having not scored against his rivals.

But a game between the Glasgow giants at the end of this month might provide the platform for the striker to exorcise his demons.
One thing the former Rangers midfielder knows the top scorer must not do is allow the same doubt to creep into his mind at Parkhead on December 29.
Do that, Smith says, and it'll be the same outcome.
"The only element that's hanging over him is the fact that he can't score against Celtic," Smith added.
"I got the impression on Sunday that there was a nervousness about him.
"In usual circumstances, he would have put his chances away.
Rangers have Morelos replacement blueprint in place, says Ross Wilson
"We need to see, before the next Old Firm game, that he's over it.
"If he can score goals prior to that it could be a situation where he shows he can deal with it.
"If he goes into the next one and he hasn't scored since before the cup final then you could maybe worry about him.
"But if he's scoring goals again, I'm pretty sure he can go into that game as the player he's become in every other game.
"It's a psychological factor."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.

We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
