CELTIC have reportedly had a £3 million bid for Cruzeiro defender Fabricio Bruno rejected by the Brazilian club, former Ibrox fan favourite Pedro Mendes says that Braga will represent a totally different threat to Rangers than Porto and Stoke City striker Tyrese Campbell has caught the eye of Celtic's scouting department.

Cruzeiro reject Celtic bid

Cruzeiro confirmed that they have rejected a £3 million approach by Celtic for 23-year-old centre-back Fabricio Bruno. The Daily Mail (print edition) are reporting that the Scottish champions have scouted the defender on numerous occasions, with Cruzeiro manger Marcio Rodrigues saying: "This proposal came, yes, but it is not consistant with what we want. There was a little enquiry and they made a proposal, but it doesn't come close to what we want."

Stewart confident of reaching last 16

Rangers forward Greg Stewart is optimistic about his side's chances of reaching the last 16 of the Europa League after the Ibrox club were paired with Portugal's SC Braga in the round of 32. "I think it’s an excellent draw for us," he said. "It’s a game we feel we can definitely win over two legs. We played against probably a Portuguese Champions League team in Porto so we’ll be feeling confident with that draw."

Celtic sanctioned by UEFA

Celtic have been fined around £13,000 by UEFA after some supporters let off fireworks during the club's 2-1 win over Lazio in Rome. The Scottish Sun are reporting that Celtic will have to pay a €16,000 fine for setting off fireworks, while Lazio were fined €6,750 for the throwing of objects.

Senderos pays tribute to Rangers fans

Former Rangers defender Philippe Senderos, 34, has announced his retirement from football and posted a message on Twitter thanking all of his former clubs - including Rangers - for their support, according to the Daily Record. "To my friends and amazing family - THANK YOU a million times over," he wrote. "I look forward to the next chapter. Phillipe."

Lennon unfazed by Europa League draw

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is confident that his side can progress beyond the last 32 of the Europa League - and believes that playing away from home in the first fixture could prove crucial. Lennon said: "Copenhagen are second in the league and have great European pedigree but it probably won't faze us and one we can look forward to. I think it's always good to have the second leg at home because we'll know what we have to take back to Glasgow."

Celtic 'monitoring' Stoke forward

The Daily Record reckon that Stoke City and England under-20 striker Tyrese Campbell is on the radar of Celtic's head of football operations Nick Hammond. The 19-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season and Celtic would have to pay minimal compensation if an agreement could be reached.

Rangers youngsters to face Atletico Madrid

Graeme Murty's Rangers development side will face Spain's Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Youth League play-off in the latest round of European competition. The two-legged tie will be played in February 2020.

Mendes warns Rangers over Braga threat

Former Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes has told the Scottish Sun that his former club could be in for a difficult fixture against Braga - and insisted that Rangers' last-32 opponents will offer a different threat than Porto. “They have different types of players and some of them are very good technical players," Mendes said. "Porto’s players are stronger. I’m not sure how Rangers will deal with it. It will be interesting."

Bitton signs new Celtic deal

Celtic utility man Nir Bitton has put pen to paper on a deal that will tie him to the club until 2023, with Neil Lennon challenging the Israeli to push on and take his game to another level. Lennon said: "He has fulfilled his potential to a point but there is more to come. I think he can take more responsibility at times."

Argyle delay on Rudden decision

Plymouth Argyle manager Ryan Lowe admits he will wait until the end of the month before deciding if he wants to extend Rangers striker Zak Rudden’s loan deal.

The striker has made seven starts in 14 appearances for the English League Two outfit, scoring twice. Rudden, 19, whose temporary deal expires in January, made his first outing in six weeks in Saturday’s victory over Morecambe after being sidelined by a knee complaint.

And Lowe insists he is in no rush to sort out the Scotland Under-19 cap’s future.
He said: “I speak to (Rangers manager) Stevie Gerrard on regular occasions. We have still got to monitor that and see how well he’s going to produce.”
