AFTER a torrid start to the campaign, things are starting to finally look up for Partick Thistle. Back-to-back league wins were recorded for the first time this season in their last two outings, the Jags have only lost one of their last seven matches and a win over Dundee tomorrow - coupled with an Inverness victory over Dunfermline - would see the Firhill club move to just four points off of fourth spot in the Championship.
Ian McCall, the club's manager, is confident that the club are finally moving in the right direction after disappointing results over the last two seasons.
“I am delighted with how things have been going," he said. "I said to the lads to ignore the Dunfermline game [where Thistle lost 5-1], to lose a man sent off and a penalty inside three minutes made it very false.
"We are on a good run and it is a substantial one - not just two or three games. In this league, every game offers different challenges. Outwith Dundee United, who have consistency, everyone can beat everyone."

Dundee come to town on Saturday, with McCall optimistic about his side's chances of recording a third consecutive victory. Thistle won the reverse fixture 3-1 despite trailing in the 85th minute, thanks to a late flurry of goals from Kenny Miller, Shea Gordon and Lewis Mansell.
And while McCall is targeting another three points, he admitted that the topsy-turvy nature of the Championship means that he can take nothing for granted.
"We had a great result at Dens when we beat them 3-1," McCall said. "They have a lot of good players, their aim is to get promoted, so it will be a tough game. Dundee are one of the bigger clubs in the league.
“Our target was to be within five or six points of the top four by the end of the second round of fixtures, if we win on Saturday we can be within four points.
"You can never count your chickens, though. Dunfermline were under pressure after losing to Stranraer but won three in a row and they were third. With our poor start we need to win more than three in a row.”
Ian McCall was speaking to promote Just Employment Law extending its principal sponsorship of Partick Thistle FC for a fourth season to 2020/21.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
