Fraser Forster 6
Not the same heroics that he pulled off at Hampden and no real chance with either of Rangers’ goals.
Jeremie Frimpong 6
Saw a lot of the ball and took plenty of rough treatment but not particularly effective when he was in possession. One tackle to deny Morelos at the death.
Kristoffer Ajer 5
A torrid time at the hands of Morelos who worked his socks off and was a constant source of concern for Celtic’s backline. Outjumped by Katic as the Croatian netted after the break and one his poorest displays for Celtic.
Christopher Jullien 6
Won the penalty after his shirt was pulled by Katic and had a couple of headers cleared off the line. However, kept on his toes defensively by Morelos and never seemed to have real command of his area.
Boli Bolingoli 5
Powderpuff at times defensively. Tried to get forward at times but no real influence over the way the game played out. Booked.
Scott Brown 6
Booked just after Rangers had opened the scoring for a foul on Morelos. One of Celtic’s better performers on a day when too many did not turn up.
Callum McGregor 7
The architect of the goal that got Celtic back into it when he unleashed an effort that came off of Edouard. Celtic’s best player and most likely to drag them back into it.
James Forrest 5
Quiet. Has been a fairly low-key few weeks for the winger who contributed very little to the game. Could not exert and real influence on proceedings and well marshalled by Barisic.
Ryan Christie 5
Penalty miss seemed to sum up his afternoon; no real conviction and never really forced his way into the game. Booked
Mikey Johnston 5
Went into the game on the back of penning a five-year deal with the club and deployed in his favoured wide role. Replaced by Bitton and offered very little.
Odsonne Edouard 6
His latest goal in this fixture carried some luck after McGregor’s shot inadvertently deflected off his hand to wrongfoot McGregor and restore parity. But did not menace Rangers the way he has previously.
Subs
Nir Bitton 4
On for Johnston for the last 20 minutes of the game as Celtic shifted their shape.
Olivier Ntcham 4
Took over from Forrest but unable to turn the tide in Celtic’s favour.
Leigh Griffiths 4
One free-kick well wide much to the chagrin of his team-mates who wanted the ball into the box.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
