Rangers fans are sweating at the prospect of Borna Barisic missing Thursday’s clash with Braga through injury.

The Croatian left-back has missed Rangers’ last two matches with a hip problem sustained in their Scottish Cup clash with Hamilton.

Before their defeat at the hands of Kilmarnock a fortnight ago, Gerrard said Barisic had an “outside chance” of playing, but he wasn’t included in the squad for the tie at Rugby Park or Sunday’s re-arranged clash with Livingston, which has fans worried.

One said: “Hope Borna plays tomorrow”, while another commented: “Barisic is more important to how we play than Ryan Kent”.

Another fan added: “Halliday is not good enough for the 1st team, most folk know that, and doesn’t give anywhere near what Barisic offers.”

Another fan commented: “Borna Barisic an injury doubt for Thursday and the stand-in would be a bandaged up Andy Halliday? I’m away to bed.”

Halliday has filled in at left-back in Rangers’ previous two matches but hasn’t been included in a European squad since August.

Jon Flanagan, who had played at left-back in the opening qualifying rounds, is unavailable having been dropped from Gerrard’s squad for the last-32 after falling out of favour at Ibrox.

Meanwhile, Ryan Jack is suspended for Thursday’s tie after his red card in Rangers’ final group game with Young Boys in December. Glen Kamara, Alfredo Morelos and Barisic are all just one booking away from missing the reverse fixture with Braga next week.

We told how ex-Rangers man Pedro Mendes has claimed that Rangers could not be facing Braga at a worse time.

The Portuguese side have won eight of their last nine matches since new manager Ruben Amorim, including a 1-0 win away at top of the table Benfica.
