Celtic and Rangers prepare for battle
Gillingham defender Jack Tucker could be the subject of a bid from both sides of the Glasgow divide this summer.
The highly-rated 20-year-old has reportedly been regularly scouted by Celtic and Rangers with a view to making a move for the player.
The Gills would, it is understood, be looking for around £1.5m for their defender. West Ham and Aston Villa have both also been credited with an interest in Tucker, while Brentford had a £1m bid booted out in January.
Tucker is contracted until 2023. (Scottish Sun)
Gordon a wanted man
Huddersfield are reportedly plotting a swoop for Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon.
The stopper has fallen out of favour at Parkhead, currently well behind Fraser Forster and Scott Bain in the pecking order.
He is out of contract in the summer and has expressed a desire to play regular football at the age of 37. Hearts were also admirers back in January but that move did not materialise as Neil Lennon wanted to keep Gordon.
However Huddersfield have made their interest known and could pick him up for nothing this summer. (Daily Record)
Hamilton’s Hamilton heads south
Accies youngster Jamie Hamilton has headed south to link-up with Premier League side Brighton.
The 17-year-old has done well for his club so far this season, playing 14 games including against both Celtic and Rangers.
He will train for three days with the Seagulls in a short stint, allowing the Premier League side to get a good look at him.
Accies confirmed the situation yesterday, claiming their affinity for former manager Billy Reid - now Brighton assistant with Graham Potter - was a main reason for allowing the player to go.
O’Donnell doesn’t hold back
Kilmarnock right-back Stephen O’Donnell has taken aim at former manager Angelo Alessio.
The Scotland cap believes his side are not playing at the level they should be. Currently seventh, a long way off sixth by 11 points, Killie have not hit the same heights as they did under Steve Clarke.
O’Donnell said: “I don’t think it’s where we should want to be, but decisions were made...
“We have a bigger budget than last season and it begs the question, should we not have kicked on? Should we not be trying to compete with Motherwell and Aberdeen?”
O’Donnell is out of contract at the end of the season. Middlesbrough and Oxford are among those clubs reportedly interested in signing him should he opt to leave Rugby Park.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
