Scott McDonald netted the winner for Brisbane Roar as they defeated the Newcastle Jets in the Australian A-League this morning.
The former Celtic striker tucked away an impressive strike on the swivel early in the first half and it proved to be enough as The Roar ran out 1-0 winners.
McDonald, who moved back down under in the summer after surviving relegation with Partick Thistle, has now scored four goals in his last three games.

And he admits he’s loving life back in his homeland, saying: “It’s been great just to get back out there and enjoy my football. I’ve really settled in well with the group as well – it’s a really good group.

“It’s been really easy in terms of having a few more British lads as well. I lived in Britain for a long time so you get the humour straight away. Obviously coming in at the right time as well, with the team playing full of confidence and being on a great run, it’s been good to be a part of that.”

The 36-year-old spent a short spell at Western United after departing Glasgow before linking up with Brisbane Roar, where he now plays alongside another former Celt, Joe Ledley.
Australia’s top football division remains one of the few sporting leagues across the globe that is still playing games as others fall victim to COVID-19. Despite avoiding postponement all games down under are being played behind closed doors.
