PARTICK THISTLE have thanked their season ticket holders after just 3.5 per cent of supporters applied for refunds.

Jags directors offered their 1,800 loyal supporters a partial refund due to their still being five games of the Scottish Championship left to play before it was terminated indefinitely.

Only 64 fans opted to take this up and as a result relegated Thistle have saved over £75,000.

A statement read: "The Partick Thistle Board would like to offer a huge thanks for the support of all 2019/20 season ticket holders after just 3.5% applied for the refunds made available by the club.

"It is important for us to firstly emphasise we are genuinely pleased that those supporters who required a refund to help them at this tough time took up our offer prior to Friday’s deadline.

"With just 64 of 1,800 season ticket holders doing so, this resulted in a total refund cost of less than £5,000 – should all 2019/20 season ticket holders have claimed the refund they were entitled to, the cost to the club would have been in excess of £80,000.

"This is an incredible gesture by our season ticket holders and a continuation of the amazing support you have shown us in recent months. Offering refunds was absolutely the right thing to do – your support in return is humbling. Not only does it provide a massive financial boost to the club at this very uncertain time, it encourages us to continue to take decisions that are right for Thistle and our fans.

"There is nothing more important to the club than our supporters. Please do continue to follow all government and NHS advice, look after each other and stay safe."
