RANGERS defender Nikola Katic has emerged as a transfer target for French Ligue 1 side Dijon.

The Croatian stopper is contracted at Ibrox for a further three years, but is attracting attention from across Europe.

Steven Gerrard added Katic, 23, to his squad in summer of 2018 when he joined Rangers from Slaven Belupo for a fee of £2million.

The Light Blues would pick up a handsome profit for the defender if they decided to sell, but it remains to be seen whether Gerrard is willing to do business.

Dijon finished 16th in Ligue 1 this season, after it was declared early with PSG being crowned champions.

Rangers yesterday announced six players who will leave Ibrox when their contracts expire later this summer.

Andy Halliday, Jon Flanagan, Wes Foderingham, Jason Holt, Jak Alnwick and Jordan Rossiter will all be on the hunt for a new club during the current football hiatus.

Gers' director of football Ross Wilon added: "Andy, Wes and Jon have applied themselves excellently during my time here and I wish them nothing but the best in their next chapter. I am sure the fans will join me in thanking them for their contributions to Rangers.”

And boss Steven Gerrard said: “I want to recognise the contribution of the players who are leaving our squad at the end of this season.

“There is a lot more that people contribute to, away from the fixtures each weekend and I commend each of the departing players for what they have given to us day in and day out. Work continues on a daily basis in planning and preparation for next season.”
