JONNY Hayes has announced he will be leaving Celtic when his current contract expires after three years with the Parkhead club.
The 32-year-old, who joined the Scottish champions in a £1m transfer from Aberdeen in 2017, confirmed his departure in an Instagram post.
He wrote: From the lows of breaking a leg to the highs of winning a treble, the last three years have been an enjoyable journey, in which I’ve worked under some terrific staff and shared a dressing room with some unbelievable guys!
"Football at times brings tough decisions, so I’d like to thank you for all the support received along the way!"
The 32-year-old was never a regular starter under either Brendan Rodgers or Neil Lennon, but was utilised in a variety of positions, most notably wing back, when he did feature.
Last season scored the winning goal in the Ladbrokes Premiership game against Rangers at Ibrox back in September after coming on as a late substitute and played in both Europa League wins over Lazio this term.
The Republic of Ireland internationalist collected a total of six major honours during his time at Celtic, three Ladbrokes Premiership titles, two Betfred Cups and one William Hill Scottish Cup.
His announcement drew tributes from his Celtic team mates: Captain Scott Brown replied: "Going to miss you my man. What a man and what a player. Hard going in the dressing room to replace." Greg Taylor said: "What a man."
